Fat gets a bad rap.
I will be experimenting in this first phase using different animal fats to see what flavors and properties each can impart. They are by nature predominantly saturated. Depending on who you ask, what day it is and the color of their socks, these are either heart disease-causing cholesterol-raising lipids or they’re coagulating natural healthy fats.
I have to be honest this first exploration is actually the one I am least looking forward to. I’m sure I enjoy a well-cooked steak as much as the next person, but I find that meat can get sort of boring without plant-based foods to complement it, so focusing on a carnivorous diet sounds like a bit of a drag to me.
I anticipate a kick start to my metabolism as I experience ketosis from this zero carb meal plan. However, at least by my own judgement, this is not a sustainable healthy lifestyle, so I would not recommend it as a permanent diet.
I’ll keep you posted on the progress.
