We picked up Daddy Alsum from work on Friday and went straight out to his family’s little cabin in the woods.
Our kids love foraging. Last week, Lark and I gathered enough salmonberries near our home to make a crumble pie. Hart is more of an “eat it when I see it” sort of a kid.
I needed to gather a couple of dandelion and a couple of burdock roots for a special sauce that you will be seeing go on our local twist cheeseburger, so we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon picking and eating wild berries, namely thimbleberries.
If you haven’t tried picking and eating wild fruit and roots, I would strongly recommend doing so. It’s fun. It’s free. It’s whatever you want it to be. So, get out there and get your nails really really dirty.
